About Jane Arrowsmith


Jane was born in Saskatchewan, and raised in Ottawa.

Her musical interest was apparent at a very early age and nurtured

by her parents. Piano lessons began at the age of 6 years, and she performed locally in Ottawa. She studied with

Dina Namer in her teenage years.


Jane completed a Bachelor's Degree from Ottawa and Carleton, where she studied with Andrew Tunis (MMus Manhattan School of Music, Canadian piano soloist, chamber musician, Head of UOttawa Music Dept., Professor and teacher, International awards, numerous recordings, Juno nominee) and Christina Petrowska (PhD Sorbonne France, Canadian piano soloist, artist, author, Professor of Piano Performance and Musicology at York University, received Canada Council Doctorate Fellowship, recorded 40 CDs, 4 time Juno nominee). Jane then completed her ARCT (Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto, Canada – a certified teacher of the Conservatory), and in addition became a licensed Kindermusik teacher (group music classes for children birth to 5 years) and taught for 10 years and in addition, trained as a MYC Sunrise teacher.


Jane has taught piano for over 25 years in the Kanata/Ottawa area and is a Registered ORMTA teacher. She is a member of:

• Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Association

• Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association

• Gloucester Music Teachers' Association

• Kanata Music Club


She currently teaches full-time, attends teaching workshops, studies RCM Gr. 8 singing, plays keyboard in a rock band, and sings in a local church choir.
